The activity of the Foundation shall come defined by a host of general and specific principles which have to do with the vision that the organisation has of what constitutes Development.
GENERAL PRINCIPLES
- The process of development of the peoples must have at its focus the human being, both individually and socially.
- The development shall be understood as a process of enlargement of the capacities and options of the people, especially among the most vulnerable and impoverished sectors. The ultimate end is to make the people the masters of their own future in a growing manner, increasing their autonomy and their leading role in the processes of change that development entails.
- Each people has to be the role leader in the processes of change. Each people has to define their development model and the measures best adapted to meet it.
- The projects of cooperation for development and the care activities we develop mean a manner of solidarity and of working I n the defence of the dignity of the community of Wukro.
SPECIFIC PRINCIPLES
- Furthermore, the activity of the Foundation is led by several specific principles which name in a more direct manner the scope for action proper to the Entity.
- We propose to analyse the needs of the community of Wukro in order to have an exhaustive knowledge of the situation there, and in this way, to be able to define in an adequate manner the focus groups for the aids and projects, as well as for the actions to be developed.
- The Foundation considers women and children to be the most vulnerable and impoverished groups, and this is the reason why we favour projects addressed to improving their reproductive health and to make a real empowerment for women possible.
- We understand that the creation of new ways of participation of the population is part of the activities of the organisation, so that they collaborate and donate their help to Ethiopian people.
- We consider that development has to be an ongoing process. We understand that any action has to take into account environmental and social sustainability, which improves the living conditions and that is why priority shall be given to initiatives that, apart from adhering to the above principles, shall entail the respect for the environment and the strengthening of the social organisations.
- The projects that shall be done and the activities proposed shall only be implemented with the agreement of the WSDP, which is the organisation with which the collaboration shall be done and work shall be developed in a direct manner.
- In such a way, the activities set forth shall take into account the direct observation of Angel Olaran, of the WSDP Director, of the Director of the Wukro Hospital, of the Director of the Health Centre, and of the other members of the community involved in the projects developed.
